Wan Chatra Mongkhon marks the coronation of King Maha Vajiralongkorn, Rama X, on 4 May 2019. It is a public holiday with royal religious ceremonies at the Grand Palace and a merit-making programme, and for most people it functions as a day off rather than an occasion with public events attached.
